Bubbles & Botanicals was set up to celebrate the incredible vineyards and gin makers creating award winning products across Sussex

The first Bubbles & Botanicals Fair took place on Saturday 19th November 2022 in the stunning surroundings of South Lodge, near Horsham.
During the day a wide selection of vineyards and gin makers from East and West Sussex offered samples and advice, and three drinks industry experts gave insightful and entertaining talks throughout the event.

The Bubbles & Botanicals Fair, which is part of the Sussex Exclusive family, is designed to showcase some of the best sparkling wines and craft gins from Sussex and the south east of England. The fair is part of our mission to support local producers and businesses.  

Sussex Wine

The Bubbles & Botanicals Fair comes at the perfect time for the Sussex wine industry which is fast gaining a reputation for producing world class still and sparkling wines. In recognition of this quality, Sussex was recently appointed as a Protected Designation of Origin (PDO).

Sussex Exclusive is the Sussex lifestyle magazine with a stunning and dynamic website, digital magazine and social media presence. With a passion for supporting local businesses and producers, it showcases the best of Sussex as well as the off the beaten track and the unusual.

Who will be at Bubbles & Botanicals?

There are more than 15 wine and gin producers from across Sussex coming to Bubbles & Botanicals, here are just some that you’ll have the opportunity to meet and try.

Blackboys Vineyard (Tickerage Wines)

A small, family-owned and run vineyard in the heart of East Sussex. At Tickerage they hand craft wines that reflect and celebrate the natural environment that created them.

With just five acres of north facing slopes on the edge of the Sussex Weald, the family like to do things a little bit differently.

Stopham Vineyard and Winery

As still wine specialists, this West Sussex based vineyard grows and produces still and sparkling wines in the temperamental English climate.

They translate the diversity of the South Downs – from the cool breeze and rain, to the bright, sun drenched hillsides, into every bottle of wine with precision and passion.

Roebuck Estates

Situated in the heart of the South Downs National Park, the Roebuck vineyards are a natural habitat for an extraordinary collection of wildflowers, deer, hare, birds and more.

Minimising their environmental impact and maximising conservation and biodiversity lies at the core of everything that Roebuck Estates does.

The outcome is an extraordinary collection of multi-award winning sparkling wines.

Fox and Fox

A careful combination of Burgundian and Champagne clones of Chardonnay, Pinot noir, Pinot Meunier and Pinot gris allows Fox and Fox in Mayfield to create wines with enticing fruit flavours, aroma and complexity.

Whether it’s the pure un-oaked Chardonnay of their Essence, the Fox & Fox take on Blanc de Noirs that they call Tradition or their Inspiration Blanc de Gris – Fox and Fox’s aim is not to copy other styles of sparkling wine, but to create new and exciting wines that reflect the quality of the fruit and the conditions in which it was grown.

Harley House Gin

Harley House Distillery is a small batch distillery based in Seaford, East Sussex. Each batch the distillery produces consists of a limited number of bottles meaning that they can create each bottle by hand with the utmost care and attention. 

At Harley House the distillery prides itself on creating unique produce that showcases the local area and leaves a lasting memory on the taste buds. The water is thoroughly filtered through the South Downs to provide the purest beginning of any spirit. They use the fresh water to create initial alcohol solutions which is unusual however, it is something they particularly pride themselves on.

Slakes Gin

Slake Spirits is an independent artisan gin distillery based in Shoreham-by-Sea bringing you unique gin recipes from the enquiring mind of our head dragon, distiller and forager, Dr. Thomas Martin-Wells.

Harnessing the sun to power their stills and seeking out the very best ingredients to thoughtfully produce the finest artisan gin at the crossroads of science and nature. Whatever the weather, or the seasons may bring, Slake works hard to bring you delicious and distinctive spirits

Cabin Pressure Spirits

Run by Horsham based husband and wife duo, Cabin Pressure Spirits began by producing small-batch gins and liqueurs from a cunningly repurposed shed.

Now the duo have moved to a larger ‘shed’ with a bigger still, they create a range of gins including their original product the Cabin Pressure Vacuum Distilled Gin and the perfect for Christmas cocktails – the Cold Brew Coffee Liqueur.   

House Coren

A family business spearheaded by passionate wine aficionado William Coren, the House Coren team consists of a unique blend of individuals from different backgrounds and lifestyles.

House Coren likes to break the mold and keep life interesting, and the first wine from this vineyard in The Haven, Boco, is no exception. Boco is produced using a method rarely seen in England, until now.

The Horsham Cellar

In the centre of the historic town of Horsham, the team at The Horsham Cellar are fast becoming known as the go to wine experts in the area.

They are an independent business, selling quality wine, craft beer and small-batch spirits with a focus on family-run producers making high quality wine.

They work alongside small and select suppliers, working with specialists who can access great wines that you might not have tried before, including some quirky offerings.

Plumpton Estate Rock Lodge Vineyard

The award-winning Plumpton Estate sparkling and still wines are produced by a group of enthusiastic and talented students, working alongside a team of vine growing and winemaking experts as they learn their craft.

The wines are exceptional and not to be missed.

Ridgeview Wine Estate

For more than 25 years Ridgeview has been producing world-class sparkling wines, and now the Ditchling-based wine estate has joined with South Lodge to plant a vineyard at the hotel.

In total 19,500 vines will be planted, and although it’ll be two years before any grapes appear, you can still enjoy the multi award-winning Ridgeview range of delicious sparkling wines when they come to Bubbles & Botanicals.

Leonardslee Lakes & Gardens

Whilst Leonardslee’s vines are maturing in West Sussex, the team will be bringing their delicious South African wines, Leonardslee branded wines and Horsham made Leonardslee Botanical Garden Gin to the fair all of which are perfect for a Christmas dinner.

 

Bluebell Vineyard

Based in the heart of Sussex near to the Bluebell Railway, Bluebell Vineyard crafts their wines using the traditional method of production and strive to produce wines with the perfect balance of fruit character, acidity and ageing.

All Bluebell wines are vintage wines made exclusively from grapes grown in a single year, making  every Hindleap and Ashdown Vintage unique – perfect for a Christmas present, or two.

Bee Tree

Bee Tree is an independent, family run business in the South Downs of Sussex. They have a passion for making great English wines from ethically and sustainably-grown fruit.

They’ve used that passion to create a fresh, vibrant, range they just know you’re going to love.
